I have so many complicated emotions about starting this gofundme. We are surrounded by the kindest humans on the planet, all asking how they can help, and I’m totally at a loss for how to ask for…money. Can I ask for a complete overhaul of the medical and insurance billing institutions instead? PLEASE?
Well, here we are. Truly until these past few months, we had never personally seen how medical bills can drown an entire family. And the other situations that come with it—how I can’t work right now due to all my appointments and how complicated this pregnancy is…how I have no idea WHEN I’ll be able to return to work again, or how to work around what could be numerous heart surgeries for baby boy…
Nick’s work has been INCREDIBLE. They are giving him multiple paid weeks off when baby is born, so that we can do our best to muddle through parenting and NICU life together. We are beyond grateful for them.
Fine, fine. Here’s the hard part. We are very grateful our insurance covers all of our in-network bills once we pay our deductible, which is $8,000/year. Unfortunately, we’re currently balancing a lot of payment plans to manage this $8k being paid off over time, and 2023 will start a new year of our $8k deductible.
Just for (miserable and ironic) laughs, please know our insurance is currently getting billed around $18,000 a month just for my prenatal care. WHAT.
I couldn’t come up with a good “fundraising” goal. I have no idea what’s reasonable to ask anyone to contribute for this little babe. Even a dollar from you goes straight towards one of our stupid payment plans, so know literally everything matters and we don’t want to ask a lot. (Or anything, really.)
My understanding is gofundme takes a tiny cut of each donation. So I also have a Venmo if that’s easier. @SarahAnello
Thank you all for being the absolute best. We are eternally grateful for your support!
