#RunForDylan - Cowtown 2024
Donation protected
The RunForDylan Foundation aims to create a long-lasting legacy of the beautiful life of Dylan Dorrell who passed away in August 2020 due to sudden cardiac arrest after cross-country practice. He had been a runner since he was in 1st grade. He was 17 years old and about to start his senior year at Guyer High School. His parents, Lisa and Gus Dorrell, started the non-profit organization, RunForDylan, in his memory. Their main focus is to provide heart testing and CPR training to athletes. While one of these tests could not have saved Dylan, it could save someone else.
This year for The Cowtown Races 2024 on February 25th 2024 one of Dylan's cousins, Shannon, is planning to #RunForDylan in his memory as she did in The Cowtown Half-Marathon 2023. She aims to raise money for her family's foundation to keep Dylan's spirit and energy alive forever! If you feel compelled to donate or join Shannon's team as a virtual or in-person runner, please feel free. All donations will go to #RunForDylan and the RunForDylan Foundation.
Your donations help provide heart screenings and CPR training to athletes as well as placing life-saving AEDs in areas where moments, just like Dylan's, could happen. We appreciate any and all contributions and donations made. Thank you!
Dylan's Story:
Dylan Wayne Dorrell 17, of Denton, TX passed away early Thursday morning, August 13th, 2021 surrounded by his family. He would have been a senior at Guyer High School that year. Dylan was a 4-year member of the Guyer Cross country team, he belonged to several clubs at Guyer and was also very active in his animation classes. Dylan was an original. He marched to the beat of his own drum and did not care what anybody thought about that. He was so loving and kind. He always had a smile and you would never see him in a bad mood. Every day was a great day for him. It didn’t matter what had happened that day, he always had a positive outlook. He was a light in this world that we all need. His family loved him so much and there will be an emptiness in their hearts forever.
Dylan was many things to many people. A talented artist. A dedicated runner. An amazing son, big brother, cousin, and grandson. A loyal and kind friend.
