In august this year I am taking on the Copenhagen Ironman with my friends Marcus and Nathan to raise much needed funds for Snow Buddies UK, a sports charity dedicated to making winter sports accessible to disabled adults,
Come race day this will have been a 9 month journey and with 2 months to go I am hopeful you can join me in supporting this wonderful cause.
This charity is close to home for me as many of you reading this will know Hector my not so little brother has autism, he has his challenges and requires a lot of care not dissimilar to many with disabilities who ski with Snow Buddies. The charity provides fun, social interaction and for many a life changing experience.
Despite these challenges when socialising, communicating and the need for support in completing day-to-day tasks that we may take for granted, he absolutely loves going away on adventures and trying new things and is fortunate to have experienced trips away with our family but has also got a taste for more challenging expeditions put on by his school such as his recent venture to Scotland to complete his Silver D of E
These trips require a lot of support in order to give Hector like many with disabilities some adventure and a sense of achievement that has such a positive influence on their lives and often proven to be a real highlight of their year.
Snow Buddies UK provide the opportunity for those with disabilities to experience winter sports with their able bodied friends and family by ensuring all of the money raised goes towards helping with hotels, transport, food, specialist equipment and instructors as well as the 24hr care required to ensure a safe and fun time.
I urge you to have a look at their website to see more Snow Buddies UK
If you’ve got this far and you have a feel for the opportunities Snow Buddies UK offers, then I and the charity would thoroughly appreciate a kind donation to support this amazing cause.
