Mark is the kind of man who cares and he cares a lot.
He’s a devoted father, a proud grandpa, and the favorite uncle to a whole crew of nieces and nephews who light up when he walks into the room. He’s been a husband and best friend to his wife for 29 years, building a life together on love, laughter, and partnership.
Mark bleeds a special kind of blue, Dodger Blue, and he wears it proudly. He loves video games, can binge murder mystery shows for hours, and has heard just about every conspiracy theory out there (and will gladly tell you all about them). If you’ve ever talked with Mark, you know one thing for sure: he loves to talk, to connect, to laugh, and to share stories. He’s the guy who makes people feel seen, heard, and welcomed.
He is the glue in his family. The steady presence. The storyteller. The one everyone leans on.
What Happened
What started as an emergency room visit turned into every family’s nightmare. Doctors discovered a mass, which was later confirmed to be a tumor. From there, it became a terrifying race against time, struggling to find a hospital that would take him and provide the care he urgently needed.
When surgery finally happened, it took hours longer than expected. Mark came out of surgery on a ventilator. Complications followed: sepsis, dialysis, breathing treatments every four hours, and the use of a colostomy bag. Then came the diagnosis no one was prepared for: cancer.
Since that day, Mark has been fighting with everything he has. His body has been through more than anyone should have to endure, yet he continues to push forward.
Once he heals from this surgery, the fight continues with chemotherapy and that will be followed by another surgery, extensive wound care, physical therapy, and countless appointments we can’t yet predict. The road ahead is long, uncertain, and overwhelming but giving up is not an option.
Why We’re Asking for Help
This fundraiser isn’t just about medical bills it’s about healing and keeping a family together during the hardest season of their lives.
Funds raised will help support Mark’s wife and children so they can take mental health days when the weight of this journey becomes too heavy. It will allow loved ones to be there for him physically and emotionally without having to choose between caregiving and financial stability.
Donations will also help cover:
- Transportation to and from hospitals and treatments
- Medical and recovery supplies
- New clothes for Mark as his body changes during recovery
- Day-to-day expenses while income is disrupted
- The countless unexpected needs that come with a prolonged medical crisis
No one prepares for something like this. No one expects life to change overnight. But here we are doing everything we can to support a man who has spent his life supporting everyone else.
How You Can Help
If you’re able to donate, please know that every dollar makes a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser, sending words of encouragement, or keeping Mark and his family in your thoughts means more than you know.
Mark has a long fight ahead but he is not fighting alone.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping this family hold on to hope during one of the hardest chapter of their lives.
