Every ‘Bit’ Counts

Our beautiful mom, Tammy, or as her grandsons like to call her, “Bit”, has been through so much. 

After being diagnosed with Leukemia in 2008, it took some time to find a bone marrow donor who was a match for her rare AML strand. Finally a 43-year-old woman in Portugal was a match and she was generous enough to donate for the transplant.  Since the transplant, our mom has made sure to take very good care of the donor’s bone marrow that she was blessed and honored to receive. This allowed her to see our two weddings and now 4 adorable grandchildren – McCoy, Brooks, Campbell & Everett. Tammy has always been full of energy and spunk and now her heart has been fully blessed.

Recently she learned she developed soft palate squamous carcinoma – stage 4 and aggressive.  She had surgery - which is the first of a 3 step process to battle this horrible disease we call cancer.  This battle is going to run over $25,000 past what medical insurance will cover.  On top of all this, we lost our amazing uncle – her beloved brother, Todd, to heart complications just days before the surgery.  Tammy has taken on the responsibility of making arrangements for him and planning his memorial just as soon as she is recovered. She took him in when he was struggling with heart issues and depression a while back and they have always looked out for each other, because that’s what she does - looks out for everyone. Now we want to look out for her.

We’re sending this out to the universe with prayers and hope that others can find it in their hearts to help her through this. Our mom has been amazing through all this and we want her light to keep shining for all of us for as long as possible.
