Defense Fund for Survival of a Bloodline
Donation protected

My name is Dennis Norrod some of you might know me as “Mike”. My life changed dramatically on January 31, 2019, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department seized 17 American (pit) Bull Terriers from me. Even though none of my dogs are engaged in dog fighting nor do I breed them to fight, my wife and I have been charged with Animal Cruelty. In addition, the government has filed a civil forfeiture complaint and is attempting to take all of my animals.
This bloodline has been in my family for 50 years and have been involved with in this breed my whole life. I am the third generation that has been involved with this breed.
The dogs have not done anything wrong and neither have my wife or I. The dogs are my life, I can’t describe the feeling you have when looking out a window or walking through my yard and the dogs are no longer there! I have taken very good care of my dogs, I love them and would never hurt them, and they are my main priority.
We have spent a total of $122,702.00 on boarding the dogs and lawyer expenses. Expenses for all this is coming in every day. These expenses have been to keep my dogs from being forfeited and out of the animal shelter. I believe in my dogs and they are awesome animals. They are very friendly, smart and only want to please.
We have them in boarding kennels now and they take very good care of the dogs. One of the kennel owners said “these dogs that we took in for Mr. Norrod from Calhoun County Animal Services are very friendly and affectionate.” “These dogs we can tell have been raised with love and attention.” “When requested by us, we were provided for each dog to have a nylabone chew toy and outside toys for them.” “Their food was provided in abundance.”
We are fighting for these dogs every day to assure that they are not given back to the Calhoun County Animal Shelter, they are continuing trying to take the dogs. Everything we have done is for these dogs. It is out of love and affection for them and the breed. When our case is all said and done this will hopefully change people’s minds on how quickly people judge others.
The following are just some of the things that I want for the dogs; I do not want them to be forfeited to the Calhoun County Animal Shelter, I want them to be put in homes that are familiar with this bloodline, to know that a lot of love and work over the years have been put into this bloodline, I want them to be loved, taken good care of, and to appreciate the dogs. This is going to be a long battle with a lot of expense.
I am mounting a vigorous defense against the government’s false accusations and keeping my dogs out of the Calhoun County Animal Shelter and need help funding that defense. I know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 helps get us closer to my goal! Any help that you can give is very much appreciated!
