HELP ME SUPPORT A DOCUMENTARY FILM ABOUT THE WARRIOR STORYFIELD PROJECT:
A HEALING SANCTUARY OF CREATIVE EXPRESSION
FOR MYSELF AND OTHER VETERANS
Hello, my name is Vince Newton and I am a Vietnam veteran. I am also a recent kidney transplant recipient. The transplant has been a true Gift of Life for me and left me with an abundance of gratitude and a desire to give back wherever I can. I am seeking support for
a documentary film that is being made about a powerful veteran-centered collaborative art project near Boulder, Colorado called Warrior StoryField.
I learned about Warrior StoryField through a presentation by the Students and Veterans Association at Naropa University where I received an MA in Contemplative Psychotherapy in 1990 and is one place I have wanted to support. SVA members have been engaged with the Warrior StoryField project for several years. What I witnessed was unlike anything I had experienced before—war veterans sharing
their stories with extraordinary honesty, emotional depth, and vulnerability. The courage it took to publicly speak about their lived experiences of war, service, and return was both humbling and inspiring.
The mission of Warrior StoryField is to create a sanctuary—a sacred, creative environment—where veterans can share their stories of going to war, their experiences while serving, and the often complex and painful journey of coming home. It is a place “where the unspoken can be said, and the unspeakable can be heard.” It builds a bridge
between the warrior experience and the civilian community, allowing those who have not served to truly witness, honor, and understand those who have.
My initial intention upon hearing about this project was simply to make a donation. However, as I visited the site, worked on the sculptures, and interacted with participants, I came to a powerful realization: I had never fully shared my own Vietnam experience. Like many veterans, I had buried my painful, confusing, and fear-ridden memories of participating in a war that should never have happened. Through my involvement with this project, I discovered that I was not only offering support—I was also receiving healing.
The funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will be used to complete a feature documentary film about Warrior StoryField. This film is essential to preserving these powerful stories, amplifying veteran voices, and extending the reach of this work beyond
the field itself. The documentary will serve as a lasting testament to courage, truth-telling, and the ongoing journey home for so many veterans. The goal of the film is to attract new veterans and community members to become part of this sacred, healing,
and creative project, and to create more arts-based programs like it across the country.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting veterans, healing, and the power of shared stories. Because I feel so passionate about, and committed to, this vital project I have already donated $2,000 to help ensure the completion of this documentary. Please know that any size donation is truly appreciated. Also, whether or
not you make a donation my hope is that you will share this funding request with your social networks.
With deep gratitude,
Vince Newton
