My Sister-in-law , Srividya, aged 38, is a loving and strong willed woman, blessed with two adorable kids, aged 10 and 7. Approximately, 2 years ago my brother had an opportunity to move to the USA and true to her nature, Srividya decided to join him to support the family despite the obvious struggles anyone has to undergo while trying to settle down in a new country.
Things went on well until May 2020 when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer (tongue and neck). This was a rude shock to the entire family as there was no symptom whatsoever until then. My brother did his best to provide her utmost care and at the same time did his best to support the children and keep them away from experiencing anxiety. She initially did respond well to the medication but due to ensuing complications, she lost her ability to speak and eat.
During the past holiday season as my brother was working with doctors to plan for the next course of medication, he got a message stating his Visa has been rejected by US Immigration. So, he was out of payroll for close to two months. Yet he continued to support his ailing wife which stressed him financially to a large degree. In the meanwhile, he appealed to immigration authorities on compassionate grounds with legal support for extending his stay, further enabling him to continue her medical treatment. This too added to his financial stress. His appeal to immigration authorities was finally approved but by then my sister-in-law's health condition worsened leading to considerable brain damage pushing her to a vegetative state, suspending further treatment for cancer.
As per the doctor's advice, we brought her home under hospice care and provided the utmost care that she deserved. But God had other plans and she reached His lotus feet on Feb 11th evening. My brother will be performing the last funeral rites in the coming week, which will stress him financially further. Under these circumstances, I sincerely request all of you to extend financial support to his family as they try to embark on the next course of their lives. Also, please pray for peace to the family. Thank you all in advance for your kind support.
God bless.
