My grandson, Lucas Kump, was born January 29, 2014. He was born with only 20% of his epidermis. He went directly to the NICU at BCH.
While hospitalized, he also developed eating and respiratory issues.
We were deliriously happy when he came home June 6th, after four months in the intensive care unit.
Unfortunately, things did not go as we had hoped. Lucas made no progress. It was at that time he was diagnosed with a mutation of gene BCL11B. Lucas was not able to sit, walk, or speak and was fed by GTube. He was totally dependent on others for all aspects of his care.
This winter, Lucas’s struggles grew with worsening respiratory issues. On Friday June 7th, God called our brave little warrior home. Our hearts are broken and the pain is immeasurable.
With that said, the cost of his care was insurmountable. Insurance covered very little and soon Daniel and Katie found that there were more bills than there was money.
Hopefully this page will help with the mounting expenses and funeral costs.
To Daniel and Katie, Lucas’s parents, you are warriors in your own right. You never wavered in your devotion to him. He was your everything. You were amazing parents.
I ask that our friends and family post this on their fb page and share with others so we can help Daniel and Katie thru this most difficult time.
Thank you, Linda
