ALS SUCKS. Help Lissa and Bill fight on

Lissa Negrin is one of the most talented, vibrant people on the planet. For decades, she’s been entertaining the masses with her singing, comedy, and her unrivaled, award-winning work as a Cher tribute artist. She and her husband, Bill Doyle, are two of the kindest, funniest, most generous and loving people you’ve ever met.

That’s why when Lissa was diagnosed last year with ALS, it was devastating not only for her and for Bill, but for all of us who love them, including scores of Lissa’s fans who she has uplifted for so long. ALS is a brutal disease, and it has robbed Lissa of her ability to move, walk, cook, drive, sing, perform, breathe, speak, and tell her stories. The result has been heartbreaking.

But Bill and Lissa are both tenacious. Even as she battles this crippling disease, Lissa’s strength, humor, and heart are showing as much as ever. Bill continues to be her tireless advocate, searching for answers, researching treatments, installing lifts and building wheelchair ramps in their home, and lifting her in and out of the car for every doctor’s appointment and outing. He’s been a rock for Lissa. And so has their community. When Bill and Lissa finally realized they couldn’t do this alone, the response was immediate. Meals, dog walks, visits from so many people whose lives they’ve touched came pouring in.

That’s why asking for more help now is so difficult. Bill and Lissa are strong and independent—they would much rather not bother anyone else with their problems. But as tireless as Bill is, it’s become clear that he cannot continue to move Lissa in and out of a car every time they leave the house. As a result, Lissa is now primarily housebound. That is where we can help. A wheelchair-accessible van would give them the freedom to be out in the world again—the same world they were such a huge part of before this all began. (BTW, this fundraiser amount is for a USED van).

This disease has made it impossible for either Bill or Lissa to work, and it's been a tremendous drain on their finances. Without our help, this van is out of their reach.
