Dear family and friends, I come today to ask for support for my family in this time of great sorrow. As some of you may know, my sister Kelly was called home to be with the Lord. Her battle with cancer was brutal, but she was a fighter, strong and brave. A warrior with unwavering strength of steel, blessed with a powerful smile that shined bright through all the darkness. In our family, we have a saying/mantra, "Kelly strong," which we try to live by every day. To us, it means to have Kelly's courage and faith to triumph over fear, to have Kelly's strength of spirit to know tough times never last forever. Kelly was an independent, reticent person. She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer; her husband was returning to his deployment to the border, and she had a one-month-old baby girl and a two-year-old boy at home. Her battle was fought to live for them. Her family fought alongside her through countless hospital stays, chemo, and radiation treatments. The battle was as much theirs as her own. Many nights, the kids slept without the comfort of mommy and daddy, or days where they couldn't hug mommy while she was away in isolation from the radiation treatments. Cancer, in my opinion, is the worst thing to happen to a family. It damages everything in its wake, from your mental health, emotions, relationships, and finances. Nothing is left unscathed. Through it all, she remained strong, putting her family first with a big smile to make everlasting memories with her family. If you could find it in your heart to help this family finally end this battle with cancer as we lay a loving wife/mother/sister/aunt to rest, we would appreciate any donation or prayers. This family has been through so much heartache.
