Daughter of Mom in Hospice Needs Support

My mother was diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer on 2/14/14 that has spread to her liver and lung. She has chosen in-home hospice and I am assuming the role of part time nurse. With no siblings and her family far away, my retired father and I are doing the best we can with the time we have left. Her prognosis is 2-3 months.

I live and work in NYC as a children's swimming instructor. Work has provided me with all the time I need to be by her side. Yet I still have a phone bill, a small credit card payment, food and gas to pay for. In addition I will have to fly back home with a few suitcases and pay rent and bills upon my return. Since my retired parents just paid for a funeral for my mother, they are unable to support me while I'm here in California. As I help my mother, Martha Kinsey, navigate this last phase of life, I do not have time to job search or work in Orange County, CA, which requires lot of driving. Instead I am planning her memorial service, taking care of their cats, selling her possessions, helping my dad stay sane, establish support and learn to take care of the house.

She and my dad adopted me from the hospital they both met and worked at as a nurse and lab tech. We love each other and have a special bond. My mother was by my side while I endured 3 years of chemotherapy for lupus. She fought for me when shingles brought me permanent nerve damage. She has taken care of people her whole life. Now, I want to be here for her and fight for her comfort and peace. She is so tired and in excruciating pain. As I write this, she is asleep, holding my hand. I have a hard time asking for help as it is, but to share these last moments with less financial stress would be a blessing . Thank you.
