Daisy's surgery
Donation protected
So many people know Sue Kennedy (formerly Sue Nobbs). Anyone who knows Sue also knows that she and her little pug Daisy are inseparable.
As Sue awaits hip replacement surgery and her mobility is severely limited, her beloved Daisy has fallen ill and also needs immediate care.
Her family are working to support Sue. We are putting all we have into helping her stay happy and safe in her home with modifications and access aids – but the sudden cost of Daisy’s care is far beyond Sue’s or our means.
Daisy has painful and life-threatening bladder stones. The surgery she requires to remove the stones is estimated at £2000 ($3000 Canadian). Despite Sue’s limited means, she’s not eligible for any veterinary care subsidies and this treatment is not covered by insurance. But the consequences of not having the surgery are unthinkable.
Sue raised her 3 children on her own while working full time as a school secretary. Some of you will have worked with Sue at Graham School in Scarborough (UK), or were pupils who she helped & supported, often during times of illness, accident or crisis. Her commitment to her job has touched many lives.
Sue has always put her kids and other people first. Maybe she took you - or your kids - to Guide camp year after year. Perhaps she was your Brownie leader or you sang together in one of many choirs. Maybe you were one of dozens of international workers or students she hosted in her home. Or you met her as a volunteer for Scarborough Fairtrade, at church, Mothers Union, Trefoil Guild, or she served you as a volunteer for 25 years at RSPB Bempton bird sanctuary. In 1998, Sue received the Dark Horse Award for all her incredible contributions to community, and at 84, she’s still volunteering!
Daisy is Sue’s dearest companion, her best friend and was her life-saving company through the lonely months of the pandemic. Your contributions towards Daisy’s surgery will be a priceless gift to keep Daisy healthy and keep the joy in Sue’s life. Thank you for your kind support!
