We are very lucky to live in Canada, where everything is given to us on a silver platter - at least compared to other people. A surplus of education and resources has made it much easier for people to get education. Unitify is a group of students from Calgary, Alberta, who want to help the world in any way possible, and we feel that the Create Change Foundation is the perfect charity that reflects our values.
Create Change is a fundraiser dedicated to improving literacy and advocating for leadership among women in Ghana. In Northern Ghana, where 50% of people are impoverished, schools are few and far in between. With Create Change, we strive to help young women and create leaders, who in turn can affect thousands of other girls. $12 -> Sanitary pad kit; girls are forced to miss up to 15% of their classes because of their periods. With just over 10 dollars, you can give a girl hygiene and comfort in a kit that lasts for up to two years.
$25 -> Leadership Program (1 month); This program gives girls the tools they need to succeed by building their self-confidence and leadership skills. If you donate $25, a high school student will have access to these classes, necessary supplies, and personal counselling for one month.
$50 -> Bicycle; some girls need to walk for hours just to get to their closest school. Transportation is invaluable, as it can give her more time to study and succeed.
$100 -> Sponsor a primary school student (1 year); Provide a girl with classes on literacy and self-confidence, personal mentorship, and basic supplies to ensure she thrives in primary school.
$200 -> Sponsor a JHS student (1 year); provide a girl with a bicycle, school supplies, access to leadership programs, counselling, and mentoring to ensure she thrives in junior high school.
$300 -> Sponsor a HS student (1 year); provide a high school student school supplies, tutoring, leadership training, and emotional support to help her graduate high school continue to achieve her dreams.
