My dear friend Liz recently learned that she has breast cancer and will be starting chemo for the next year. She’s one of those rare people who makes everyone around her feel lighter and stronger, now it’s our turn to return that energy and hold her up.
I started this GoFundMe to help ease the financial stress of treatment so she can focus on healing. Between medical bills, time away from work, and everyday life costs, the next year will be a challenge - but with love and community behind her, she won’t face it alone.
If you’re able to donate or even just share, it means more than you know. Every bit of help adds up and reminds her how deeply she’s loved.
Sincerely,
Desirée
Here is a note from Liz about what she will be facing:
I never thought I’d be writing one of these. I’ve always believed in handling things quietly and independently — but cancer has a way of humbling you and teaching you to ask for help.
I’m 35 years old and was recently diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, a form of breast cancer. I won’t know the exact stage until after surgery, but right now they believe it’s stage 1, 2, or 3. I’ve had a port placed and I’ll start chemotherapy at the end of this month, followed by surgery and whatever treatment comes next.
I’m incredibly fortunate to have an amazing medical team — and even more grateful for the best friends and family a person could ask for. I wasn’t planning to share this publicly because I didn’t want the sadness, the unsolicited advice, or to be seen through a “cancer lens.” But I’ve had to put my ego aside and accept that I do need help.
The truth is, health insurance isn’t designed to keep you alive and allow you to pay your bills at the same time. Between treatment costs, time away from work, moving, and just trying to manage everyday life — it’s a lot.
If anyone I love were in this situation, I’d be furious if they didn’t let me help them. So here I am, taking my own advice and opening this space for anyone who wants to support me — whether that’s through a donation, sending love and encouragement, or reminding me that I’m going to look hot bald and that my new titties are going to be fantastic. I’m grateful for it all!
Thank you for being here, for caring, and for helping me focus on healing instead of just surviving. ❤️
Love,
Liz
