Help Jacky walk!

As many of you know Jacky was born with Spina Bifida, basically her spine did not form all the way leaving her lumbar spine exposed at L 4,5,6. It required her spine to be closed the second day of her life. She also has Chiari Malformation that caused her to have hydrocephalus- this is where fluid in the brain cannot drain out and the head swells. When she was about 6 weeks old she had a shunt placed in her brain to drain the fluid. She also has issues with her bladder and kidneys, we have to catheterize her every 3 hours and while she sleeps we leave one in overnight. Jacky also has difficulty walking without assistance.

Jacky needs surgery on her feet in October.  We are taking her to Boston Children's Hospital in Massachusetts, which is one the best places in the world for her condition. The surgery is to flatten her feet out, as Jacky has extremely high arched feet, it’s not giving her a solid foundation to stand on. In this surgery they will extend the plantar fasciitis tendon underneath her feet and take a tendon from the top of her feet and put it underneath to flatten the feet. The doctor will also tighten her heel cord on her right foot to allow her foot to be more stable as well.

Jacky will need to be in casts from the feet all the way up to her hips and we are required to stay in Boston for 2 months after the surgery. She will need to be re-casted several times and will be fitted for new braces to assist her in learning how to walk. When I asked the surgeon “Will she walk doc?”- he looked at me dead in the eye and said ABSOLUTELY! She will walk, but we need to do this surgery to give her a solid base to stand on.

We will need help paying for our accommodations while we are there, we have stayed in the family housing before and it is great. But this time we are going to need an apartment to be able to get Jacky through this with time to heal and comfortable surroundings so she can rest. The average rent in Boston for an Airbnb is between $4,000.00 and $6,000.00 a month in the Longwood or Brookline area. With the time off work and a whole other house with our other 3 kids we need your help to pull this off. 

We are in doing everything we can for our Jacky and we know God has her! She is an amazing little girl! This will be her 4th surgery so far and God has been so faithful to her and us in this journey! He is a Good Good Father! He has been prompting us to do this page so we are doing this in faith knowing He is going to provide a way for us.
