Kevin's Miracle

I was blessed to meet Jolee Turner in 8th grade. We became good friends immediately. She has such a gentle and kind heart and spirit. I was blessed to be in her wedding to Kevin, go meet her beautiful daughter, Emma, the day she was born, and have a 40 year friendship.

Let me share this families Medical Miracle!

Kevin's health has been slowly declining since January of this year. Starting this summer, he has had ongoing health problems making it difficult for Jolee to maintain a full time job while trying to address all of Kevin's medical emergencies, appointments, surgeries, etc. As many of us know, just because our world seems to stop turning, that doesn't mean the world around us does

Everyday expenses and medical expenses continue to add up. Recently, Kevin had a major spinal surgery, which had hardware failure and resulted in a secondary emergency surgery to prevent any spinal damage. Two weeks following that surgery, Kevin began feeling short of breath. When he went to the ER, they found out he had multiple pulmonary embolisms in both lungs. On Monday morning 8/7/23, Kevin went into cardiac arrest as a result of the pulmonary embolisms. He was successfuly resuscitated and admitted to the ICU. He was on a ventilator, on medications to keep his blood pressure and heart rate stable, medications to dissolve blood clots. He had an IVC filter placed to help with remaining migrating clots and a chest tube placed for fluid that had accumulated in his chest as a result of CPR. His kidneys went into acute failure along with all of this.

While Kevin, through prayers and the grace of God, has made huge strides and he is looking to be out of the ICU this weekend, he still has a long road ahead through a continued hospital stay and recovery. This week has taken a big emotional toll on the family as they were uncertain about the outcome of Kevin's health. Jolee had just started a new job the week before being admitted for the pulmonary embolisms, and missed this entire week due to the circumstances.

For those of us who have been through hard times, we understand the emotional and financial toll circumstances like this can have on a family. I have no doubt that they are so thankful and feel so blessed for everyone’s support, thoughtfulness, and prayers that they have received. I know that prayer is one of the best things that we can do for our friends and loved ones but I wanted to start a gofundme so that they could feel a little peace financially during his stay in the hospital and hopefully after he is able to return home and continue his recovery. Let us continue to be a blessing through them.

Thank you all so much, Dawn Norway and I am sure the Karle family sends their thank yous as well.
