Sweet Raisin was rescued from a high-kill shelter She is a 1 year old Neapolitan Mastiff. She has a condition common in her breed that requires expensive surgery so no one would adopt her :(
Raisin has Entropian AND Ectropian. Entropian is where her excessive forehead wrinkles cause her upper eyelids to turn inward and the eyelashes rub on the cornea. This is not only painful but will eventually lead to corneal ulcers. She also has Ectropian where the lower eyelids roll downward causing the inner lids to be exposed.
Raisin's case is severe because of her breed and excessive skin folds. The surgery can not be done by a standard veterinary surgeon and requires a specialist. Typical cost is $2,000 but the specialist has offered us a rescue discount so the cost is $1,500. The prognosis is excellent, she will be able to live a long and happy life!
