Hello,
We are long-time friends and family of Roxanne and her sweet daughter, Phoebe. They have recently (finally) returned home after Phoebe's second longest and hardest hospital stay to date and are in dire need of support from the community. Phoebe was born with an extremely rare chromosomal disorder and medical issues which have necessitated dozens of hospital stays, many surgeries, and round-the-clock care over her 10 years on this earth. She is medically fragile, on life-support, and utilizes numerous medical devices for basic functions such as eating, urinating and stooling.
She is a trooper, and a precious child, yet has faced difficulties that most of us cannot even imagine. Her mother, Roxanne is an amazing woman, formerly extremely active in her community through volunteerism and educational outreach in the places that she has lived.
The birth of a child changes our lives, we all know. When that child has rare and debilitating medical issues, the changes are drastic, to say the least. Roxanne has been a fierce advocate for her child, making sure that she gets the best care possible and can experience life to the best of her ability. She has accepted this challenge with grace and good humor but has been stretched beyond her limits repeatedly, emotionally, energetically, and especially financially.
Since returning from their most recent stay at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, they have run out of money and don't know how quickly it will take to get paid again. During their stay of over FOUR MONTHS, Roxanne has been removed from the IHHS (In-Home Support Services) payroll and will be delayed with reinstatement there. Her HHA license expired while in the hospital, and she needs to update her CPR certification among other things to start billing hours with them, which could take several weeks or more.
They have had to use up all their savings, as well as max out credit cards to survive this situation while maintaining a home for them to return to. Roxanne selflessly ignores her own medical issues to provide the incredible amount of care required for her daughter.
We all want to band together to give this beautiful family the love and support they deserve and desperately need, and hope that the larger community will join us. Please consider giving what you can and let us show them how wonderful the world can be when we work together.
We appreciate your donations of any amount so that collectively we can help to ease the burden of financial worry for this beautiful family as they transition back HOME.
Thank you!
