Who We Are
Hoops 4 Hope is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit basketball league for individuals experiencing homelessness. We have been in existence since 2015 and became a non-profit organization in 2020. We’ve run 7 seasons and are excited to continue to bring energy, connection, and hope on and off the court.

What We Do
We run a recreational basketball league for residents of local homeless shelters. But it’s about more than just the game. Players get meals, athletic gear (jerseys, shoes), and a true team experience—built on camaraderie, confidence, and care. Our seasons also include engaging fundraisers and donation drives.

Who We Serve
Our players come from homeless shelters and residential drug and alcohol programs across Philadelphia. We partner with shelters directly to reach individuals looking for a positive outlet and a sense of community.

Why We Do It
Basketball creates more than points on a scoreboard—it brings purpose, joy, and positivity. Players consistently share that the league helps them stay motivated, build relationships, and feel hopeful about their future.

How You Can Help
As a small nonprofit, we rely on individual donors, local businesses, fundraisers, and occasional grants. Donations help cover our biggest expenses:
Gym rental
Insurance
Uniforms and shoes
Food and drinks
Transportation
Player awards
