Lady's journey began with what we expected to be a routine dental procedure last Wednesday. At 11.5 years old, she's always been the picture of health, but we discovered she needed care for severe dental issues. Unfortunately, what we hoped would be a straightforward visit evolved into a cascade of alarming medical discoveries.

During anesthesia, Lady's pulse ox levels fell worryingly low, prompting an urgent chest X-ray that revealed fluid in her lungs and abdomen, as well as an enlarged liver. An ultrasound followed this past Monday, which, while ruling out heart failure and masses, still left us with inconclusive results and a potential FIP diagnosis.

Lady is now in a critical state, awaiting definitive FIP test results. Meanwhile, we've connected with a wonderful group specializing in FIP treatment, offering hope amidst the uncertainty. But this hope comes at a steep price: the treatment Lady requires could cost between $2,000 to $4,000 over an 84-day course.

Yet, that's not all. Lady still faces surgery to fix her jaw and multiple tooth extractions—another several thousand dollars to ensure she can eat and live without pain.

In just one week, I've expended $4,000 on her care, a testament to the sudden and overwhelming nature of her condition. She has been my shadow, my healer, and my most cherished friend. Lady's gentle spirit has been a comforting presence through my own trials with trauma and mental health. She is not just a pet; she is a soulmate in the truest sense.
