Kelvin’s Funeral

Kelvin was well known to the community of parkwood for the few months that he lived here. He was blind and was helped on many occasions by the caring community of parkwood when he lost his way home.

I personally befriended Kelvin a few months ago and was terribly upset when he told me he had no family and lived on his own. On multiple occasions I helped Kelvin home and was so upset to see the conditions that he lived in, with no more than a bottle of milk in his fridge and his cupboards empty. His home was barely furnished and he lived alone; he was a man with nothing, that appreciated everything. With no friends or family, me and my daughters regularly helped Kelvin, as did others in the great community of parkwood. I ordered him a white stick as he hadn’t been provided one by the state. Me and my daughter also cooked him a Christmas dinner and Boxing Day buffet to try and make his Christmas a little bit better for him. Although only small gestures, Kelvin was so appreciative of every single thing, and I just wanted to do so much more for him. 

It broke my heart to hear of his tragic death caused by a house fire on New Year’s Day. He passed away from smoke inhalation from a small house fire.

I am trying my absolute best to give Kelvin the send off he deserves by trying to organise a funeral for him as he had no family or friends. I believe that he did not have enough money to fund his own funeral. I know that the council would give him a paupers funeral but I want to pay for him to have a proper funeral. A few very kind people from the community have asked if they could contribute to the costs of his funeral so I have set up this page. Any donations over and above the funeral costs I will donate to the Kent Association for the blind to help others like Kelvin. 

For a man that had absolutely nothing, let’s give him the send off he deserves.
