Jill's Medical & Living Expenses
Donation protected
Jillian Cummins, known by many as Jill (or Jilly Bean), is a 19-year-old college student in her sophomore year at the University of Denver. Like many, Jill has spent the last few years making her family proud through her studies and extracurriculars, jamming out to The Beatles, and sharing her time and compassionate heart with those in need of a friend. Everyone who has met Jill, has a story, an inside joke, and a memory that remains treasured; all thanks to her kindred spirit and enthusiasm for living life to its fullest.
In July of 2020, Jill was diagnosed with Ph+ ALL Leukemia. Due to the ongoing pandemic and her condition, Jill has been a patient at the El Paso Children's Hospital, where she has already completed several rounds of chemotherapy. Despite these incredibly trying times, Jill has remained nothing short of positive, resilient, and humorous; three of the best qualities a person could have during an incredibly tough challenge like this. During the first half of her treatment, she went as far as continuing her studies virtually and completed the fall semester, but has had to take time off because of the stress put on her body. Her tenacity and dedication are limitless.
Due to COVID 19, her friends and family have not been able to hug or have any physical contact with her out of precaution for her safety. We all know what a giant hugger and hand-holding enthusiast Jill is, and it pains us that we cannot be by her side.
Her current situation has been not only a physical, mental, and emotional battle, but a financial one as well. For the past few months, Jill's father Derek has been her primary caretaker, dedicating himself to accompanying her at all of her medical appointments, ER visits, and spending time with her. Her mother Lupe, a member of the U.S Navy, has been stationed overseas and unable to come home and be with Jill during this time. In the coming weeks, Lupe will be retiring and back in El Paso with her daughters. This means that the family will be losing the additional insurance that has been covering her treatment plans.
While her family and friends are doing the best they can, we know that even a little goes a long way in terms of alleviating the strain that comes with navigating medical expenses. All donations will be managed by Jill's sister, Melissa (Missy) , who will oversee that Jill and their family are taken care of.
Every donation, prayer, and positive dose of energy is beyond appreciated.
