I am setting up this account on behalf of my beloved friend Suzanne.
Suzanne is an amazing mother of a beautiful 10 year old, a fabulous friend and a transformative teacher. She was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer (IBC), stage IIIB, earlier this year and has since undergone a double mastectomy. This breast cancer is so rare that it represents only 4% of diagnosed breast cancer cases.
She travels to Philly where she is currently receiving chemotheraphy once a week for the next 6 months. In conjunction she be will receiving radiation twice a day for 6 weeks. In addition to these visits she travels to Chicago every 6-8 weeks to meet with her specialist so that he may continue to coordinate treatments with the Jefferson University Oncology Healthcare Team. As if this were not enough, because of the earlier misdiagnosis, the reconstructed breast has to be removed and an additional surgery has to be performed. With this aggressive treatment she has undertaken she has be given a 35% survival rate at 5 years.
Due to the treatments she receives, she is forced to submit a resignation in order to apply for retirement disability. This process can take anywhere from 3-8 months. In the meantime, with no funds coming in, she still needs to maintain a household for her and her son, and figure out what she needs to do when her health care runs out in 3 months.
She is willing to fight for any chance to spend more time with her son. She maintains a strong will and is determined that cancer will not win. We as her friends are willing to support her fighting spirit any way we can. So please pledge to help my dear courageous friend by contributing to this fund.
