Shirley H Mount

Donation protected
After a fair amount of begging and finally receiving her blessing, I am setting up this page for my sister-in-law, Shirley H. Mount.  She has a lung disease called Interstitial Pulmonary Disease .  I chose "Go Fund Me" because it's easier to get her story out there Now rather than waiting and she and her husband Robert can get immediate help which they need and the fact that no one will have access to any donations but Shirley H and Robert Mount.  I am also asking for as many Prayers as can be received.  The picture above is old as she is on oxygen full time now but I will post a more current picture as soon as I have one.
This is her story:
In February of 2013, she had what seemed to be a bad case of bronchitis.  She saw her docctor and she gave her a prescription for medicine, also feeling that it was bronchitis.  However, the cough never went away.  When school let out for summer (in May) she saw Dr. Augustine again and he wanted to do a bronchoscopy and lung biopsy.  She didn't want to go that route at that point because it was not something she was comfortable with so he put her on steroids which didn't help at all so she decided to go ahead with the bronchoscopy.  The diagnosis at that time was inconclusive.  Dr. Augustine felt that Shirley had Sarcoidosis but her husband, Robert wanted to get a second opinion so they went to Carolina Lung and saw Dr. Kirchenfeld.  He ordered a CT Scan, high resolution with contrast.  Per the results of the CT Scan, he felt strongly that she had Interstitial Pulmonary Disease so he sent her to see Dr. Huggins at MUSC.   Dr. Huggins read all of the test results and completed a breathing test and walking test with Shirley.  He also felt sure that it was Interstitial Pulmonary Disease but he wanted to do a lung biopsy to be sure.  The lung biopsy was completed and it confirmed the diagnosis of Interstitial Pulmonary Disease brought on by a hyper sensitivity to  organic dust, in other words, she is allergic to mold.  They had their home checked and they found mold underneath the linoleum in their bedroom.  They were able to get rid of the mold but the damage to her lungs was already done and is irreversible without a lung transplant.
At this time, her lung disease is progressively getting worse.  She is being treated with medicines but she will have to have a lung transplant which is costly but is the only way to save her life.  She was told by her Doctor that she had to lose a certain amount of weight before she can even be put on the list for a transplant.  She has lost half of what is needed but it is a hard battle because the steroids she has to take increase her appetite.  She is working diligently to get this done.  In the beginning the Doctor felt like she had about 10-15 years to do this but over this past two years, the disease has progressed to where he feels like she needs to get the weight off this year.  As of Jan 2014, she was told she is 100% disabled but with the medical bills mounting, not being someone to depend on others and loving her job where she was able to work with children, she continued to work at Andrew Jackson Academy until her disease would not allow it.  She is currently at home but spends as much time with her grandchildren as she can although she can't really play with them.  She wakes up every day thanking God for what she Does have and praying that she will be able to do what is necessary to get this transplant so that she Will be able to get out and play with her grandchildren whom she loves dearly.
On a more personal note, I can't think of a more deserving person!  Shirley is a Christian Woman who believes that God IS in control.  She also has one of the Best Hearts Ever.  She would do anything for anyone whether she knows them or not.  She is still as active as she can be in Church (Edisto Baptist) even though she had to give up her leadership role in Vacation Bible School (her health  would not allow her to continue).  God has her in His capable Hands but if you feel in your heart that you want to help them and you are able, please do so.  Shirley and Robert would very much appreciate any help you can give them.
As for me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you can give.  Shirley has always been more to me than just a sister-in-law, she's one of my Best Friends and I love her dearly!  Also, if you can't help financially, please send up a Prayer, that's the Best medicine ever :)!  Thank You again and may God Bless you and your loved ones in any way you need.  Sincerely, Shirley B.
