Help A Sober Sailor after Hurricane Helene

My name is Jimmy Decker From Anchorage, Alaska. I am a recovering alcoholic as of 3/10/23(still sober). I moved to Florida to start an online company called 'TheSobrietyShop.com'. I lived full-time on a 27' Catalina sailboat. This was to gain enough documented days on a boat required to acquire a 6-pack captains license. I want to sail up to key west, parts of the Bahamas then up the east coast.

I anchored off of Palma Sola cause way to weatherize the boat in preparation of the coming storm. I put out two anchors in a V formation and my primary anchor chain was weighed down with a 35lb weight to help the ground tackle grip the bottom. However, the storm surge was a 50 year high, which snapped my bow lines and sent my boat a drift. The storm slammed the boat into the causeway and destroyed the entire port side of the vessel. Hurricane Helene destroyed my home. I am currently creating this gofundme from the red cross crisis shelter. My boat insurance has been voided because the damage occurred during a hurricane which they are calling an 'Act of God'.

I need to raise enough money to remove and destroy the vessel. Then I want to replace what been lost and finish what i have started. I am ashamed to be a victim of Hurricane Helene. I can honestly say I have lost everything. It is not easy for me to ask for help because I am a prideful man, more than I wish I were at time. This said, I am out of options.

I am not where I planned to be in life but I am still sober and I have a grateful. God knows Im not sure what tomorrow will bring but I trust in a loving God-
