This is my friend Jesse’s story in his own words. He is a good and honest man caught up in our dysfunctional government system of providing help to people in need.

My name is Jesse Holmes. I'm 61 years old and a lifelong resident of Savannah Georgia. My story falls under the “stuff happens” category.

I lost my job and became homeless. I have no addictions or criminal record. I have been accosted and had my belongings stolen at our local shelters. They are not a safe alternative for me.

I thought a better education would help get me back on my feet, so I enrolled in college; I could get financial aid if I could maintain a high enough GPA. At my age, I knew it would be tough, but I managed to maintain a 3.0 average. I was told it would be impossible waking up from a bus stop bench and taking college classes, but I was too "crazy” to know it couldn't be done. I earned my bachelors and two masters degrees in business and healthcare management. I'm still trying to find a job. You have to be 62 to start receiving social security. I started this fund because I need a break from the streets. I wanna get cleaned up ( like I am in the photo) and get some rest.

My goal is still to find employment but having to survive on the streets has taken a toll on my health which makes finding a job I can physically do more challenging. I don’t want to give up now. A very small donation would be a blessing.
