Brisbane & GPS Rowing Club’s Nationals Campaign

In the early mornings while you are sleeping, the roller doors at Brisbane & GPS Rowing Club are being opened, scull racks pushed out and our rowers head out on the Brisbane River with the goal of representing their club or even one day being an Olympic Rower.  Through hard work, endless training, countless early mornings, gym sessions, morning rides, support from top coaches and great team work – we have built a high performance team of rowers who are ready to hit up the Australian Open Rowing Championships in Sydney this month.

In 2016 Brisbane & GPS will be sending 22 rowers from both our junior and club squads to compete across 23 events. For many of our rowers, this will be the first time they have competed at an event of this calibre.

The Australian Rowing Championships is an opportunity for our team to showcase their skills, row against the best in the country and see the Australian Olympic Rowers in action.

The preparation leading into our 2016 Nationals Campaign has been months in the making, and proof of our rowers’ hard work and dedication is in the results…

·         Last year, Brisbane & GPS Squads performed exceptionally well at club regattas, including events held at Pine Rivers & Tweed.

·         At the 2016 Queensland and NSW State Championship Regattas, our rowers performed strongly across the many different boat classes.

·         The Club was recently presented with the historic QARC Trophy for winning the Queensland Club Premiership for the 2015-16 regatta season.

All of these results are a testament to the collective efforts of the Club’s members who all worked together as competitors, coaches, volunteers and supporters across all categories of racing.

So now the time has come – the Australian Open Rowing Championships are just around the corner – we’ve reached the main event. The count down is on and Brisbane & GPS rowers are ready and determined.

We’ve done the training, we’ve put in the hours, but this is where we need your help.

To mount a campaign to attend Nationals costs  thousands of dollars for accommodation, flights, seat fees, entry fees, food, club clothing and transports. To assist with the costs we would appreciate your support.  The smallest donation makes a big difference.

Any contributions made to our 2016 Nationals Campaign are greatly appreciated.

We’ll be keeping you updated throughout the week via the Brisbane & GPS Facebook page and you can also view the race results live online at www.rowingdownunder.org.

Best of luck to all involved!    #BGPSNationals2016   #bepartofit
