Supporting triple negative breast cancer

Let me introduce myself.. My name is Iris Robinson, I am a 46 year old woman, a single mother to an 18 year old young man, a daughter, an aunt, a sister, and also a 'mama' when it comes to my work family.

I've spent majority of my adult life working two jobs so that I can be independent and give my son and I a life where we can live comfortably. I've been at Red Robin since 2010, during that time I was also a caretaker for the elderly that weren't able to do so for themselves. I now am solely at Red Robin and Walk Ons restaurant.

In May of 2023, I went to the doctor for a check up because I felt a lump in my right breast. After several tests, I received news that a person could never be prepared for. They found a large tumor. I was diagnosed with triple threat breast cancer. Which changed my life in more ways than one. Not only do you go through changes physically, but also emotionally, mentally and financially. I did chemotherapy once a week for about 6 months. Which had me so sick most days. I have had a single mastectomy. Chemotherapy did shrink the very large tumor but there is still small traces of it. Now I have to start radiation treatment five days a week for 6 weeks. A person's life gets turned upside down when they get news that they have a illness that could end their life early. With all of the treatments that I've had and still currently going through. I had to stop working 63 hours a week at my two jobs because of my current health status. I do still work in between treatments and surgeries. Life around me still goes on including bills every month . I thank everyone that has supported me on every level there is. I want to live because of my son.. I want to have some type of normal life but nowadays it's not easy. Between treatment, physical therapy and going to the doctor and hospitals often. I do believe that JESUS is with me even when I've wanted to give up. But I'm still here and I plan on still being here. Me and my son. Thank you !
