My name is Jill Repp. After a routine mammogram, followed by a biopsy, I was diagnosed with breast cancer on Christmas Eve 2013 just two months after turning 40. Fortunately, I was diagnosed early and my disease was very treatable. I underwent a lumpectomy on the left breast with reduction and oncoplasty on both breasts on 1/31/2014 and just began radiation treatment on 3/10/2014. Thankfully, I am on the road to recovery.
In the midst of my battle, my mother Patricia Repp was diagnosed in February with a much more serious cancer, small cell carcinoma of the lung. My mom is uninsured and while the hospital is helping to complete her Medicare applications and get her treatment started, there are things that we need to come up with money for, out of pocket.
I am the sole provider for my family of three; me, my mother and my 18 yr old college freshman daughter. Between my own cancer bills and expenses and now, my mom's- well, I really need help. My mom has no transportation, does not drive and has no support system aside from my daughter and I. It costs $40 a week to use the hospital "courtesy van" to get her back and forth to the simultaneous chemo and radiation treatments she will undergo for the next 5-6 months. And while her Medicare paperwork is pending; they will start the chemo but we need to find a way to pay for her anti nausea medications out of pocket. These are my immediate concerns. I'm not asking for a lot- just enough to cover her meds and to get her back and forth to the hospital every day. I would be grateful for every single penny; whether it be one or a million, that anyone would be willing to donate to help save my beautiful, selfless Mom.
