Positive things happening in difficult situations.
My name is Kate and I am part of a mutual aid project called DRAW A SMILE. This humanitarian project in Gaza was created by my friend Ibrahim A Qudeih in 2024 and he asked me to help from the UK. I have the greatest respect for Ibrahim and his family as they survive the harsh conditions in Gaza. Ibrahim is one of many Palestinians who has lost everything over the past few years and is now displaced.
You may have heard of Ibrahim, he was a beekeeper and farmer before the war and there is a different fundraiser for him and his family. However, Ibrahim wanted to help more people, the displaced people living in camps with him and he founded DRAW A SMILE in order to do this. He works incredibly hard to make life better for other people, particularly children. He and his team source, purchase and distribute resources to families living at Al Mawasi camp. At time of writing (April 2026) there have been 23 separate DRAW A SMILE intiatives, including providing drinking water, educational resources, bread, food high in protein (meat and eggs), fruit and vegetables. One of my favourite DRAW A SMILE initiatives was a fun party day for children which included games, clowns, face painting, food and drink. It was wonderful to hear the children laugh and see them smile. They need respite from the traumatic situation they are in, as well as some sort of stability and normality in the chaos and grief of displacement.
I can promise you that every penny will reach this important project in Gaza. All costs are covered by the UK team so that 100% of donations can reach the people who need it.
We are grateful for any donations, help, prayers, positive energy and support you are able to offer. Following our progress or liking and sharing posts on social media is helpful too, or if you have an idea and want to use it to help DRAW A SMILE then please get in touch!
