Ron's Retirement Gift

As many of you have likely heard, Ron Nelson will be retiring from Abbott Construction on June 4th, 2025.

It can’t be denied that Ron has affected each of our lives in some way over the last 32 years. Whether through big gestures or small, he has always led with kindness and integrity. He has been there for us when we were hit with hard times at work, or at home. He’s been honest with us, and willing to have the hard conversations that we need for our personal or professional growth. He has given us his grace when we needed it the most, but didn’t feel deserving of it. The list goes on and on, but most importantly, Ron has been a tireless advocate for Abbott field team - not just collectively, but individually. He’s made sure that our work, our contributions, and our value have never gone unnoticed.

And if there’s one other thing we know about Ron—it’s that the man loves to fish!

To honor his retirement and everything he’s meant to us, we want to send him off with something truly unforgettable. Ron’s brother is flying to Chile for a salmon fishing expedition and would love to have Ron come along to experience this once-in-a-lifetime trip with him. It would be even more special to Ron if this trip came as a gift from the people he has supported, lead, and advocated for over the last 3 decades. THAT’S US!

We estimate that there's about 90 of us in Field Operations trying to reach the $8,000 goal, which is the cost of the 6-night, 5-day salmon fishing expedition itself (not including airfare). Every little bit counts, but we hope you’ll dig deep to help us get to the goal. For those who are able to contribute, your name will be included on the card when we surprise Ron with this gift on May 29.
