Clear the List for PHS IB Teachers

Tax deductible
Welcome to our GoFundMe campaign dedicated to supporting the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Pensacola High School. As passionate advocates for education, we believe that every student deserves access to quality learning resources, and every teacher should have the tools they need to inspire and educate.

Public high school teachers often face the challenge of funding basic supplies out of their own pockets. This burden is especially felt at PHS IB, where rigorous coursework demands specialized materials and 1/3 of the students qualify for free/reduced lunch. Your generous support will directly impact our students and teachers by ensuring they have the necessary tools to excel.

By donating to our "Clear the List" campaign, you will help purchase essential supplies such as textbooks, lab equipment, art materials, and digital resources. You will also have the opportunity to sponsor students in need. These resources are crucial for providing a well-rounded education that prepares students for college and beyond.

Your contribution will not only enhance the learning experience of current IB students but also support future generations of learners. Together, we can alleviate the financial strain on our dedicated educators and empower them to focus on what they do best: educating and inspiring young minds.

Join us today in making a tangible difference in the lives of Pensacola High School's IB students and teachers. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to achieving our goal of ensuring educational equity and excellence. Thank you for your support!

Any donation amount is welcome! The list provided below is intended to be a guide. You are welcome to contribute any amount (even if it doesn't "match" a specific item's cost) and give without a preferred designation.

Items on PHS IB Teachers' List
  • $10/each x 8 picket fences | Physics | This accessory is very helpful in experiments related to gravitation on Earth (AP Physics, IB Physics), error analysis (IB Physics), and free fall (AP and IB).
  • $89/each x 1 equal volume density set | Physics | For all physics students to support understanding of some concepts in thermal physics and physics of fluids.
  • $96/each x 1 equal mass density set | Physics | For all physics students to support understanding of some concepts in thermal physics, and physics of fluids.
  • $99/each x 1 document camera | English | Having a high-quality document camera will help me clearly model annotating a text and practicing grammar exercises as a class.
  • $100/each x 8 motion detectors | Physics | This detector may be used in more than 50 experiments in HS physics. It is crucial for experimenting while learning kinematics.
  • $115/each x 8 laminated wall maps | History | To support our AP European and IB History of the Americas curriculum
  • $143/each x 1 Boomwhackers classroom pack | Physics | For all physics students (AP, IB). This product may be used to demonstrate concepts of waves in physics. Students may use the tubes to design and carry out various experiments related to waves.
  • $150/each x 18 student sponsorship | Sponsor a Student | 1/3 of PHS IB students qualify for free or reduced lunches. As a result, there are many students who cannot afford to purchase certain school supplies throughout the year. Each year, PHS IB Boosters provides them with what they need. | 2 FULFILLED
  • $150/each x 20 graphing calculators | Math | Graphing calculators with charging station for Apps and Analysis. Both classes, as well as AP Stats/Calculus, require them. Students often need to borrow but most importantly need access at the end of the year when calculators are collected.
  • $150/set x 1 set of theater books | Theater | Books by various influential theatremakers (e.g., Suzuki, Boal, Berkoff), used in paper research. These books provide more choice in topics and primary sources required for IB Theatre assessments, as well as enriching their global understanding of theatre.
  • $150/each x 4 Group 4 question banks | Science | It has all the past exams on it, and we can design assessments for the material we cover in each topic. It is very important to provide practice the entire year for the IB Exams and this resource is the best one to do that in my opinion.
  • $164/each x 2 Biorad DNA fingerprinting kit | Science | This is a kit for DNA Gel-electrophoresis. We have the equipment. A lab like this is usually done in 3rd year Biology, the analysis of gel-electrophoresis and DNA evidence is a required skill. This Is for all SL and HL 3 students.
  • $215/each x 2 transformation labs | Science | All SL and HL 1 students, content is required learning about bacterial transformation. It gets the students excited about biotechnology when they can apply what they learn about restriction enzyme splicing and DNA transformation of a jellyfish gene into an Ecoi bacteria and see the bacteria express the glowing jellyfish gene.
  • $250/student x 80 Revision Village Gold subscriptions for each Apps and Analysis student | Math | Revision Village is, hands down, the best resource for preparing for the Analysis and Apps exams. Consistently, the students that utilize this resource end up performing well on the exam. Note from the teacher: Even if we don't hit the 80-student goal, making a donation to help a single student who is economically challenged for $249 would also be very helpful and welcomed.
  • $285/each x 1 biology Inthinking curriculum | Science | This resource is now up to date with the new curriculum. I plan to use some of the resources for the students to add to their knowledge.
  • $850/each x 1 AP world history (modern) review class book set | History | This purchase would reinforce and supplement classroom instruction and textbook for Grade 9 pre-IB students preparing for their very first AP exam.

If we exceed our $9,000 goal, we have additional, higher-ticket items that we would like to purchase for the teachers, too:
  • $11,000 — 100 students to attend Alabama Shakespeare Festival | English | Cost is for two chartered buses. This activity is something we did many years ago with all of our pre-IB freshmen through their English class. (We had to stop it due to lack of funding.) Witnessing a Shakespearean play in person in a world-class theater environment will broaden our students’ perspectives and understanding of both theater and literature, and will support them going forward as they enter the full IB program as Juniors.
  • $150/student x additional student sponsorships | We always welcome additional funds for students in need.

Note: All donations will be given to teachers or students. The items listed are actual items needed and are intended to help prospective donors understand items cost. Your donation is not designated, but we will make every effort to direct it to your preference, if you indicate one. If you do have a specific preference, please indicate that in the comments with your donation. If funds for that item have not already been provided, we will update the list above to say "FULFILLED." If funds for your preferred item have already been provided, we will redistribute your funds to another item on the list.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out! We would love to support these outstanding teachers and the students that benefit from their teaching!
