Hello there and thank you for reading this! My name is Laurae and I’m asking for help to cover the cost of my upcoming surgery. I have Pterygium in both my eyes. It’s most common in people who spend a ton of time outdoors (I’m a farmer so I’m outside pretty much all the time) and people who live near the equator. Pterygium is an abnormal growth of cells in the eye, which can eventually cover the cornea, can cause scarring which leads to blindness. It’s not normally quite so catastrophic for most folks, but in my case, it’s destroying my eyes. I had my first surgery last year, and we thought I’d be able to wait a while for my right eye, but it’s growing faster than anticipated, and my doctor is recommending we remove it quickly. I have not had the time to save up for this surgery, despite the fact I have two separate insurances, my out of pocket cost is substantial. I’d be forever grateful for whatever you could chip in to help me make sure I get this surgery before I lose my eyesight in my right eye.
