SAVE SUSSEX PLACE

We’ve resided on Sussex Place for the last 6 years and during this period our house has seen countless people come and go. Whether that’s been getting your tartan out, Scottish accents on and celebrating Burn’s Night with us; watching the procession and partying with us during St Paul’s carnival; BBQ’s in the summer; countless birthdays; world cup games in the garden; or just a place to crash when you’ve needed it – 4 Sussex Place has been there for, not just us, but a lot of you.

A few months back, one of our LGBT housemates was abruptly made jobless and given no final holiday pay-out which is usually standard procedure. They have been trying relentlessly to secure more work, but due to their disabilities, options for work are limited and they have had no luck so far. As a result of this there have been missed rent payments. Today, we, as a house, have been issued a Section 21 eviction notice which will be proceeding unless the outstanding money is paid before the end of this month. The total amount owed currently is £1130, which will be going up to £1720 on the 9th June, which between us we cannot afford.

We are reaching out to friends, family, gays, theys, allies – anyone in our communities that can spare anything to help us from being made homeless during a housing crisis. I know times are tough for everyone right now, and we wouldn’t be reaching out like this if we weren’t desperate. We are totally at a loss here and it’s currently looking like the worst-case scenario will become a reality for us very soon. We're in no way expecting to raise the full amount on here, but any help would be massively appreciated by all 5 of us <3
