Hello there. Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Bryan Janiczek. On March 10th, 2025, I went to the hospital for an open-heart surgery.
I had to get my aortic valve replaced and an aortic aneurysm repaired. I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve that was in severe condition and leaking significantly. This caused my heart to become enlarged and unable to function properly.
I was sent to a heart surgeon in Manhattan who told me I would need surgery. The days following the surgery were the most painful days of my life. It's wild what the body can go through. I was in the hospital for 9 days until I could safely be discharged.
Because it was an open-heart surgery and my chest bone needs to heal, I won't be able to return to work for 3 months from the surgery. I can't use my upper body while the bone heals, and I'm very restricted on what I can carry or lift. So, for the most part, I've just had to rest and walk. I've had to recover in New York City to be close to the doctors and hospital of the surgery, which has been extremely expensive. Unfortunately, I don't live in NYC, so it's been a struggle to figure it out. I thought I could swing it but I was wrong.
If you are able to help at all, it would be greatly appreciated. Truly anything helps.
I have a couple more months to go before I can return to my work. Until then, I need to focus on a healthy recovery. Thanks so much.
