ALISON ARAO BATTUNG 03 March 1975 - 30 April 2020 Alison, known as Ali to pretty much everyone who knows him, was the second of four children born in Tuguegarao, Cagayan Valley, Philippines. He studied to become a nurse from St Paul's University in Cagayan before transferring to Pines Educational Center in Baguio City for final year and graduation in 1996. It was in St Paul's University that he met Genelyn who was to become his wife on July 19, 1997. His first work experience was a year as a volunteer in Cagayan Valley Medical Center. After this, he started in the Holy Infant Clinic as a Staff Nurse - the same year their daughter Micah was born. While at the HIC, he was offered a position as Clinical Instructor at the Medical College of Northern Philippines. This was his last job before moving to the UK. Ali moved to Bristol to work in the Bristol Royal Infirmary in December 2001. Initially he was in the Upper Gastro-Intestinal ward and later moved to the General Intensive Care Unit. Ali was joined by his wife, Gen and daughter Micah in February 2003. Ali and Gen had two sons born in Bristol, Ivan and JM who are now 13 and 11 respectively. After Ali left the BRI in 2012, he trained as a motor mechanic, and more recently has worked in Tracy Park Golf and Country Hotel and Cedar Care Homes. In the years he has been in Bristol, Ali was well liked by all who had the good fortune to get to know him. He had a reputation of being willing to help no matter what time of day and night somebody called upon him. Ali was a hugely dedicated family man who devoted himself to his wife and children. He and Gen threw themselves one hundred percent into various projects; some around the house and others to earn a little extra cash. It seems they never did anything that didn't involve working together, and they made a great team. A few weeks before his admission into hospital on April 24, there were signs through his actions and comments that things were not well. Perhaps sensing what was going on, Ali decided to spend those few precious weeks under lockdown (due to COVID-19) with his family. After admission, his condition deteriorated rapidly culminating in multiple organ failure and eventual death on April 30. Ali's family are deeply grateful for the kindness shown by the church they were a part of, and from those around the world who knew them and who have been sending such warm condolences and commiserations. Loosing the pillar of their family is hard especially with the financial needs that they will face. Your generous donations will go towards the funeral costs, education of the children and day to day needs of their family. But more importantly keep their family in your prayers. Thank you all so very much and God bless you for your generosity. Kindly keep sharing this page... N. B.
