Help Coleman get a needed hearing aid !!
Coleman Perkins (my grandson) was born on 7/16/13 at a mere 25 weeks gestation and weighed only 1 lb 15 oz...he had a long stay in the NICU and came home in early November. Coleman has recently been diagnosed with a moderate hearing loss in his left ear and is in need of a hearing aid costing $2,850.00.
Coleman's parents, Melissa & Chip are working hard to take care of their family and make ends meet. However, due to his unexpected early arrival, hospital stay and ongoing medical needs they find themselves responsible for large out-of-pocket deductibles from last year and likely for the next several years. This makes being able to produce $2,850.00 for the needed hearing aid almost impossible.
Coleman's parents found out that their private insurance does not cover any part of his hearing aid. They have appealed to several charitable agencies for help, but have gotten no responses as yet. They were excited to hear that the hearing aid company offers a "loaner" program, but then found out that it would be "too much liability" for the doctors office to enter into this agreement. If he were covered by state funded insurance his hearing aid would be paid in full.
The doctors say the hearing aid is imperative for his speech development. Any help you could give in helping Coleman obtain his hearing aid would be very much appreciated.
