Funds to Save Coach's Lungs

Back in 2007, while working as a firefighter for the city of Des Moines, my dad suffered a lung injury that changed his life. For the last 9 years the doctors have tried all sorts of treatments and medications, but after seeing no results the only remaining option is a lung transplant. He is 43 years old and he fights everyday to maintain a normal lifestyle. Unfortunately, the doctors are waiting until his lung function is on it's last breath before they pursue the transplant, due to the 3-10 year life expectancy after the surgery.

Recently, his medical files have been reviewed by a Pulmonary Specialist  in California that has been able to bring some hope for the first time in 9 years. He has worked with similiar cases before and due to the major  advancements in Stem Cell Therapy offers a treatment that could provide significant improvement.

Most of you who know my father know that he always does whatever he can to help others. He loved firefighting. When he was forced to retire due to his lung injury, he continued to help through coaching softball and wrestling.  He has dedicated himself to helping others in any way he can.

This stem cell therapy could help improve his life dramatically.  If you know him, he never makes excuses and he won't allow anyone around him to either.  He is excited about being a grandfather soon and wants to live long enough to enjoy seeing us all grow old.

He loved his firefighter family and will one day die from an injury he suffered on the job.  He loves his players and wants to continue coaching until we drag him off of the field.
