Petals Friends is a small rescue, my main focus is Neutering cats that otherwise will be left to breed.

I have been helping cats since 2006 when we came across a little cat locally who was pregnant - neighbours were told by charities to ignore her and she will go away.

I wasn’t prepared to do that so my mom and I caught her and took her in.

Since then the amount of cats has grown substantially, and no matter how many we neuter - there is always more.

Because of the in fighting, mating and street life these poor souls are not found without problems.

The last 3 males we have helped have all needed urgent dentals due to serious mouth conditions.

The recent boy Sam has sadly put my funds at risk, his dental couldn’t be left, and he was suffering.

Another rescue very kindly allowed Sam’s dental to be carried out at their vets at a much lower rate to what we would usually pay, and it is with heartfelt thanks the generosity of so many, we almost had the dental covered, however while Sam was under sedation, the vets requested bloods due to his horrific infectious mouth.

This has took us over the initial quote , and also meant while fundraising for Sam we weren’t fundraising for our other costs, Vet Trips, food, litter and transport.

Petals helps so many cats and it’s not always the case of a simple neuter, many need antibiotics, flea, worming and it is always a worry that when a cat goes in - I’m going to get a phone call stating the cat needs something additional at a huge cost.

There are so many rescues out there that the constant asking for help can become very draining on our supporters.

It’s an uncomfortable position to be in, but every cat helped under Petals appreciates every inch of support.
