On January 4th, 2026 my brother Nathan was diagnosed with cancer.
Nathan is 36 years old. He fell at work back in October and slowly Nathan started losing feeling in his legs. We all assumed it was due to his fall. Nathan went to physical therapy and doctors appointments but it wasn’t getting better. On January 3rd, Nathan became completely paralyzed from the waist down and could not walk, and ending up falling. We took him to the hospital and on January 4th early in the morning, we were told the news that Nathan had a mass on his back that was most likely cancer. The mass was surrounding part of his spine, crushing it, causing him to lose mobility from the waist down. They immediately transported him to Beth Israel in Boston. Nathan had an extensive 5 and a half hour surgery on his spine where they removed what they could of the mass and now he has rods and screws in his back.
On January 10th, 2026 Nathan had all of his family by his bedside in the hospital where we were told the most devastating, heartbreaking news. We found out Nathan has stage 4 lung cancer. It spread to his spine and now Nathan has multiple lesions on his brain.
On January 15th, 2026 Nathan was transported to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Sandwich where he is currently working on his mobility. We are unsure of when he is going to be able to move back home and start his cancer treatments but we are hoping it will be in a few weeks.
We are now asking for any help as Nathan is moving back in with my parents. He is going to need a variety of medical equipment including a wheelchair ramp for their house, shower chairs, wheelchairs, etc. The medical bills are also starting to pour in from the multiple MRIs/CT scans, etc. as Nathan has been in the hospital since January 3rd.
Nathan’s life completely changed overnight. We were told he’s never going to be able to walk on his own and will be mainly be in a wheelchair. He’s going to be going in and out of Boston for his cancer treatments. He’s not going to be able to work for a long time, if ever.
Please considering donating if you can, any amount will help. This news and these events have been so challenging for our family, especially Nathan. But we are optimistic that he is a fighter and he is surrounded by so so much love. Please continue to pray for my brother. Thank you. ❤️
