My name is Cindy Richards.
I have been a veterinary nurse for the past 20 years.  July 8, 2014, I did my first tandem skydive and was in love five seconds into freefall.
For my skydiving friends and family , I do not need to use any words to explain that love. For my non-skydiving friends and family, I cannot come up with any words to make anyone understand that love and what it has given me-peace brought to my life-.
Unfortunately, jump #448, on July 15 of this year I allowed it to take something away from me.
For my skydiving friends and family I'm embarrassed to use the word "accident"....
I made a very, very poor judgment in my decision of my landing pattern.  I turned in way too low and smashed into the ground at 20mph.
I have shattered my left heel, broke my left radius and have 5 ribs out of place.
I had surgery on my wrist 10 days ago at KU Medical Center (which I can not say enough wonderful things about the hospital and the entire staff---TOP NOTCH)  and I'm scheduled to have surgery on leg Aug. 4th.

I have no insurance through my work nor any disability benefits of any sort.

I have been in a wheelchair, (I cannot use crutches because my arm is broke) not been able to work since my accident/(poor judgment) and per the surgeon I am to stay off of my leg for another eight weeks after surgery.

Long story short, I am in desperate need to help pay my normal bills and now surgery bills.

I am very embarrased to reach out in this mannor, but I do not know what else to do. Even the smallest donation would be greatly appreciated.
