On August 10th, 2015, my best friend and second family lost a very important man. Father and Husband George Zaft, Jr. He was 42 years old. George is leaving behind two beautiful daughters, Brittany Ann, 18, planning to attend college in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, to study social work; and daughter Sarah Marie, 15, soon to be 16, an aspiring broadway star. Also leaving behind his wife of 21 years, Brenda, who works as an infant and toddler teacher in New Lisbon, Wisconsin.
George died of unknown causes at the time. He had not been feeling well that day and came home early from work. When his wife and youngest daughter, Sarah, arrived home words were exchanged, but he was in bed resting. When Brenda went to join her husband in bed she found him turning colors and could not find a pulse. Emergency services were called immediately, and Brenda proceeded to perform CPR. Sarah, the only daughter living at home at this time, held her daddy's hand until the ambulance arrived. EMT's intended to stabalize him, they did everything they could. While also contacting the hospital, which informed them there was nothing left to do, and they had to let him go. Brittany arrived home around midnight after her mom had called; with no idea that she was coming home to find out her daddy had gone to Heaven.
George loved cars, he took pride in fixing them. George along with his brother, who was also his best friend, fixed many cars together, and were currently working to fix a small truck for Sarah, whose sweet sixteen is on the 21st. He also loved to DJ, he radio jockied for many years. As my friend and I grew up he was the DJ for most of our events for school, and helped us to get our girlscout badges for motor vehicles.
This sudden tragedy has left the family highly concerned as to how they will continue to pay for their home, car, and Brittany's college. Brittany feels as though she must move home to take care of her mom and sister. She needs to get an education, and become the social worker she aspires to be; and with her heart she'd be an amazing one. The dreams Brenda, Brittany, and Sarah have, they will struggle to find ways for them to become accomplished.
Every person should reach for the stars, and these three people have just watched the sky dim right before their eyes.
In all the years I've known this family they have faced every problem thrown at them head on, and stood firm in their faith while doing so. In losing a father and husband they have lost the "Man of the House", now uncertainty faces them, as they struggle to figure out how they will continue to pay for their already rocky finances.
Imagine how you would feel in their place. These three beautiful women left by the man that they needed the most. I'm asking you to consider helping this family in this struggle, they already have so much to worry about, to add finances to it. Any small donation would be of help. I thank you for taking the time to read and I ask you to pray for my best friend and her family in this time of mourning, that will follow them for years to come.
