Don protégé
Our dear friends Mike and Maria lost their son Stephen suddenly while he was recovering from surgery March 13th 2014. Mike was by Stephen's side continually throughout the weeks of his hospital stay leading up to his surgery and during his recovery. As a result, Mike lost out on 5 weeks worth of wages that the family desperately needed. This caring family is facing a financial hardship, along with trying to cope with the loss of their son. All funds will go toward services and costs associated with Stephen's hospital stay, and Mike's lost wages.

Yesterday afternoon, Thursday, March 13th... Our family suffered an incomprehensible loss. Maria Paul and I lost our son, Stephen.
Gabriel and Emmy lost their brother.
It is unsure exactly what happened, as he had been through a major surgery, but had made it to recovery and was thought to be doing well.
Stephen was 15 years old. He would have been 16 this year. During his short time on this... earth, he fought against debilitating physical and neurological problems. He was a tough kid. So resilient and hard-headed... We never had a doubt that he would pull through this, like he always did. But, maybe he had just grown tired of fighting.
We miss you so much son. I love you, and miss you so much. Life is never, ever going to be the same again without you here. This is really, still so unreal. I cannot believe that you're gone.
There are few things that I can think of in this world, quite as horrifying and awful to comprehend, as a parent having to bury their own child. Anyone who is reading this, please, keep your loved ones close. Give your own kids a hug and a kiss. Hold them tight. Life is such a fragile thing that can be taken from us at any time. It's easy to forget that. Don't take for granted the time that you have been given.
I do want to thank our friends, family, neighbors who have been there for for us through all of this. Your love, thoughts, prayers and support have not gone unnoticed, and we appreciate you all.
