I'm Linda Lewin, and this is my dog, Lucy. Lucy had an accident this weekend, where she hurt one of her hind legs. She has the equivalent of an ACL tear (i.e., a CCL tear) in her back right knee. This has been causing her pain and limiting her ability to walk and get around.
After going over all the options with her vet, the best option would be for Lucy to get her knee repaired through surgery. However, this option is really expensive (i.e., $5,000-$6,000 based on estimates), and other courses of treatment are less expensive but will still have a significant financial impact. With me spending the last 4 years as a graduate student and only being able to work part-time, finances are tight, and, realistically, I won't be able to afford her medical expenses on my own.
Lucy is no spring chicken (!) as a 9-year-old dog, but she is a small breed, and she likely has 5 more good years. She has been such a gift and loyal companion to me (and to many others). I want to be able to provide her with a good quality of life where she can be happy and pain-free.
Contributions of any amount are so helpful. Thank you so much for considering! All of the help and support means so much to me.
Update: I was able to find a reputable non-profit that is able to do Lucy's surgery for $3,600! She will be having her surgery this Thursday 06/05. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far!
