“Although cancer is truly evil and has taken so much from me; I look around and see what a wonderful life I had. Through all the pain I am blessed to live on a beautiful planet, to have fallen in love once, to have had 3 children, the strength to put myself through college, to find a career in a man's field and the ability to prove myself, my most rewarding experiences is giving back to the community and helping others in need. The more this journey becomes extremely tough to bare, it makes me stop and remember all the wonderful things in life I have experienced. I feel truly blessed to see what a beautiful life I have, even in my darkest times.” – Facebook post by Marianne Kline on January 27, 2020
Marianne is a fighter. Since being diagnosed with cervical cancer on Dec 23, 2017, she has courageously undergone 4 major surgeries, 5 rounds of chemo, and 4 different rounds/types of radiation. Today, the cancer is metastatic and late stage. Throughout the past 2 years, Marianne has frequently said, “I just want to be normal”. Her “normal” is being the best mother she can be for her three kids, especially to the youngest daughter, 12-year-old Kaylee, who still lives in her home. Her “normal” is being the best employee she can be as a meter reader at the local power company. Her job requires her to be outdoors, assist during storms, work closely around electricity, always stay in good physical condition and be mentally alert because her job is dangerous. Her “normal” is not having to worry about Kaylee’s future without her. Because of this fear, Marianne continues to fight hard, along with her doctors, to eradicate the cancer—once and for all.
Marianne is a caring person. She loves people and helping others. Few utility meter readers take the time to talk to customers in the field. Marianne tells customers how to get the most from their electric service. She volunteers her time at the Elks to raise money for our veterans. At least one act of her kindness to another appeared in the local newspaper.
Will she give up? No! Giving up is NOT in her. And, she is in good spirits despite her current circumstances. However, her fight against this Evil Cancer has caused time away from work for doctor visits, hospital stays, and recovery from treatments. As the sole bread earner of her family, when she is forced to be away from work, less income comes in for necessities: rent, groceries, utilities, gas and for her treatments not covered by her employer’s health insurance.
Marianne is a natural at helping others and does so in a cheerful manner. She asks for nothing in return. Asking for help is not in her.
However, this strong fighter needs a boost: a financial one to help pay her bills and medical premiums while she is away from work on medical leave. And to pay for mounting medical bills and clinical trials until the treatment that kills the cancer is found. As a friend of Marianne's, she has asked me to oversee her campaign, solicit and receive donations, and deposit into her bank account each week.
Marianne also needs our prayers—more often and powerful.
Together, we can all fight with Marianne to move her malignancy to a miracle. She’s been doing her part; she needs us in her fight, too.
Thank you for helping with any amount and/or prayers,
Tammy Lehman, friend of Marianne's
