Let me start by saying Carter is a fighter. He has been through so much in his journey, and continues to fight to be here. We started our pregnancy just like anyone else would with your typical check ups, so happens we went in for his 20 weeks check up and that’s where Carter’s fight began. While doing the ultrasound we were asked did Stacy “feel any pain “which was replied with a “No” and soon after physicians were called in and found out her cervix was opening. We were rushed to a high risk doctor who could possibly do and emergency cerclage, by the time we drove from the hospital to the high risk doc her cervix had open even more. We would have to have a emergency cerclage placed later that night and we were warned that since her bag was already bulging that it could possibly cause his water to break during the cerclage surgery . Once in surgery the doc came out and let’s us know that Stacy had ruptured and that majority of the fluid was lost and asked mom did she want to continue with cerclage she replied with yes save my baby.  Cerclage surgery was a success but with so much fluid lost she would have to go home on bed rest until 22 weeks for viability. So after weeks of getting up to use bathroom and back to bed we were admitted to Winnie Palmer to continue bed rest until the big day. This was oct 22 2018. After many weeks and holidays MR CARTER chose Christmas Eve to arrive!!

With all the statistic that said he would never make it to this point he fought his way through and that’s when the next round of his fight began. Carter was born with pulmonary hypoplasia which mean small stiff lungs which in tune made it very hard for him to breathe on his own. We were told he wouldn’t survive the night on Christmas Day and the day after but Carter had other plans he continued to improve after months of treatments . Eventually he had to get a tracheotomy for ventilation purposes but still continued to strive . We are now faced with moving him out of the state for more advanced treatments for his lung . At this time we are not sure the duration of time we would have to be away but we will do whatever we have to do to save him!!!
