My introduction:
My name is Marshal Destremau and I am a 16 year old kid from Perth in Western Australia. I have two basketball dreams in 2020 that, due to my circumstances, I can not achieve on my own.
Dream #1 : making it to nationals!! - 3850$
The first dream of mine is to be able to attend nationals this year. I recently made the Under 18 WA Metro state basketball team and the Under 18 Australian Junior Championship runs from 17th to the 24th of April in Ballarat, Victoria.
I've been playing basketball ever since I was 8 and I was so happy to make the team and at the prospect of representing my state at a national tournament. My mother was really proud of me also.
I would need the funds by the beginning of April. The $3850 goal is for the flight and accomodation while I am over there - I am raising the extra costs like uniforms etc. by working myself.
Dream #2 : making it to the US!! - 6150$
The other dream of mine is to go on a basketball trip to America during June/July this year to gain exposure to college coaches and programs and learn more about the college basketball process.
I aspire to go to a US college to play basketball once I have finished my schooling in Australia and so gaining exposure is essential to my ability to go there - as I will only be able to go if I am able to pick up an offer.
I would need the funds by the beginning of June. The $6150 goal is for the flight and accomodation while I am over there - I am raising the extra costs like uniforms etc. by working myself.
My conclusion:
Those are my two dreams for 2020 this year. I was so excited for both nationals and the US trip, but unfortunately my single mother cannot afford to pay the fees alone because my twin sister is in a bad way and needs the money for an operation which obviously takes precedence.
As a result, I have resorted to setting up this GoFundMe in hopes of raising the money to help me get to nationals.
Many thanks to all of you. Anything will help.
Kind regards,
Marshal Destremau
