My name is Theresa Fischetti.  I am 84 years old, a widow and live alone. I have no family and no children. My whole family is deceased and I have no one who could come to my aid.  My husband passed away 8 years ago and lost his Social Security income and pension.  I lost $2000 per month.  At the time of his death we had some savings and IRA account but used all of the money to survive and pay rent. All of my funds have been exhausted and as of today, I'm completely broke. I have no money to live on and to pay bills. My Social Security income pays my rent and have very little left to pay bills. I have reached out to government agencies for assistance but there's no agency to assist me.  I need financial aid in order to survive and pay bills.

I am a former legal secretary and worked for many years and I was forced to retire in 2008 when we had the economic crisis and at that time I was 69 years old.

For the past six years, I have tried everything to get assistance. I am not entitled to Medicaid or welfare because my SSI benefit is beyond their guidelines. The guideline is $850.00 per month and anything over that amount, you are not entitled to anything. How can anybody live on $850.00 per month?

On October 28, 2020, I reached out to Medicare to find out if there was a program which could help me out. The representative I spoke to said that according to what I received from Social Security, which at that time was $1734.00, there is nothing they can do.

It is amazing that a citizen of the USA, born and raised, worked for many years and paid taxes is not entitled to any financial aid when needed. On November 18, 2021, I wrote President Biden a similar letter regarding my financial dilemma which was completely ignored. As a matter of fact, I sent President Biden the same letter twice. I never heard from his office. On October 20, 2020 I wrote a similar letter to Senator Kamala Harris and did not receive a response.

This country could care less about the retirees and / or seniors and this is why you so many homeless people roaming the streets which includes our veterans who put their lives on the line every day to protect our country.

If it weren't for my social security benefit, I would be roaming the streets.

I wrote letters all over the US including Senator Biaggi and Assemblyman Benedetto of NY. Nobody hears my voice and Nobody cares.
