Help Us Get a Proper Wheelchair for Riley
In 2016, when my son was only one year old, he suddenly became very ill after catching a rare virus called Enterovirus D68. Almost overnight, the virus left him with paralysis in his left leg.
Now 11 years old, he’s growing into a bright, funny, and determined boy. He absolutely hates using a wheelchair because he wants nothing more than to run around and keep up with his friends. But as he gets older, his mobility is becoming harder to manage, and his spine is starting to twist from the strain of walking unevenly. This means he’s having to use a wheelchair more often, whether he likes it or not.
We’ve found a wheelchair that would make a huge difference to his quality of life, it’s lightweight, more supportive for his posture, and designed for children who want to stay active and independent. Most importantly, he actually likes this one, which means he’ll feel confident using it.
This chair will give him the freedom to move around more easily, help prevent further problems with his spine, and allow him to take part in more of the activities he loves without feeling left out.
The cost of the chair is beyond what we can manage on our own, which is why we’re reaching out for help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a real difference in helping us give him the chance to feel more like himself again.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting. Your kindness means the world to us.
